Dressed In Tome

Dressed In Time-
Description - Historical costuming with a special love for the 18th century
Blog Introduction - Caroline -  For as long as I can remember I've been in love with historical costumes. I grew up watching movies with them and loving books about them and wishing I could wear them. Now I recreate them, and have for some time now.

One of the most convenient resources I have found has been other costumers' online blogs. I've gained so much from browsing these, I finally decided to start my own. And since we don't get too many costuming events in Vegas, I thought it would be fun to have somewhere to show my closet off :)

Hope I can contribute!

xx, Caroline

The Pragmatic Costumer -
About Page -  Liz - I am a scholar and folk artist who enjoys learning about the lives of historical and literary characters beyond their textbook descriptions. Researching historical context occupies a large chunk of my time when I am not performing my library duties. A habitual, almost obsessive collector, I love gathering vintage, antique, and handmade costumes as well as creating a few limited pieces of my own. Understanding history is the key to understanding humanity and conserving what small pieces of our past we have left–be it a shoe button, family bible, or vase– will help educate future generations about the “why?” and “how?” of culture.  I’m currently using this site as a research and history collection for folks interested in the quirks and tricks of costuming/everyday historical life, but any questions are welcome!

About - 'rosiepink' is me, Annie, and my mum, Lyn and we both live on the South Coast of England. We love textiles and fibres and have a passion for felt artwork. Stitching on felt gives such beautiful textures so we combine hand and free machine embroidery with our feltmaking to create wall art. We write this occasional blog to share some of the things we create and some of the lessons we learn along the way. Please feel free to comment on any post - we'd love to hear from you whatever your interest in our blog may be.
